Daniel F. Rice is Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and is the author of a correspondence essay on "Felix Frankfurter and Reinhold Niebuhr: 1940-1964" which appeared in the Journal of Law and Religion (I:2, 1983).

Nice description and comparison but not very deep and systematic on philosophical and theological analysis. Doesnt catch Niebuhrs understanding of epistemology, its theological and mythical realism, which is deeply paradoxical. Untrue biblical myths are the best way to descripe the human reality and its basic problems and show the realistic possibilities and limits of human social development and keep the door open to the christian eschatological perspectives, which are also the ideals, which create the basic dynamics of Niebuhrs dialectical way of thinking.
