About the Author
Konrad B. Krauskopf was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin and earned a B.S. in chemistry from University of Wisconsin in 1931. He then earned a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of California in Berkeley. When the Great Depression made jobs in chemistry scarce, Professor Krauskopf decided to study geology, which had long fascinated him. Through additional graduate work at Stanford University, he earned a second Ph.D. and eventually a position on the Stanford faculty. He remained at Stanford until his retirement in 1976. During his tenure, Professor Krauskopf also worked at various times with the U.S. Geological Survey, served with the U.S. army in occupied Japan, and traveled to Norway, France, and Germany on sabbatical leaves. His research interests included field work on granites and metamorphic rocks and laboratory study on applications of chemistry to geologic problems, especially the formation of ore deposits. In recent years, Professor Krauskopf had spent time working with various government agencies on the problem of radioactive waste disposal.

A great college textbook

This was a great college textbook which covered a broad range of topics. It is broken up into logical chapters and presents the information in an easy to follow format. Plus I made an A in the class!

Textbook Rental

The product was in great shape. I am renting this text book and it is in excellent shape. The price was great for a rental. This was much more efficient and cost saving than buying the book new for 83 dollars. The rental cost and shipping was a third of the cost of buying a new book. I will definitely rent from Amazon again.

About the Author
Barton Seaver, the author of For Cod and Country and Where There’s Smoke (both Sterling Epicure), is quickly establishing himself as the preeminent expert in sustainable seafood. Before leaving the restaurant industry to pursue his interests in sustainable food systems, he created three top restaurants in Washington, DC, and was named Chef of the Year by Esquire Magazine in 2009. Seaver’s Washington, DC-based restaurant Hook was named by Bon Appetit magazine as one of the top ten eco-friendly restaurants in America. Seaver recently accepted a Fellowship with the Explorer Program at the National Geographic Society and also works as the Director of the Healthy and Sustainable Food Program at the Center for Health and the Global Environment, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His work has been featured in Cooking Light, O: The Oprah Magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Martha Stewart’s Whole Living, the Washington Post, and Fortune, among many others; and he has appeared on CNN, NPR, and 20/20. Seaver was the host of the national television program In Search of Food on the Ovation Network and Eat: the History of Food on National Geographic TV. He is a regular guest on the radio show National Geographic Weekend and contributes to many other media outlets.

An Excellent Addition to Any Kitchen

This is the third Barton Seaver cookbook I have purchased. As with all of the others, I couldn't be happier to have this in my collection. Mr. Seaver goes beyond a simple book of recipes and gives you a manual that actually improves your skills in the kitchen. From tips on how to use spices, to why we use the ingredients we use, this cookbook does it all. If you love seafood I would highly recommend Two if By Sea, as well as all of Barton Seaver's books.

The "Shrimp Al Ajillo" is now the only way we make shrimp in our house. We couldn't stop talking about how incredible this recipe is for about a week after we tried it out. Like all of Seaver's recipes (I have all 3 cookbooks of his), the finished product is far more than the sum of the simple ingredients, and I'm excited to try every one!

This is the first cookbook I have purchased by Barton Server and I am delighted! This is a beautiful and informative resource that I will hold onto for years to come. Not only does it provide lovely recipes to guide you in assembling wonderful dishes, it also provides some basics that other books miss regarding the prep if locally caught shellfish, and even seaweed. Great book! Highly recommended!

Wasn’t much better than the manual and there are much better D7200 books out now

If you bought a Nikon D7200 then you’re probably no dummy and this book will probably not be of much value. I’m sorry to say that I wasn’t really impressed and am looking into other authors now. It might beat reading the manual that came with the camera, but just barely. The book might work well for others, but Dummies books should probably be relegated to the lower-end models. I was stuck needing more information and this was all I could find at the time (the camera was just released). Now there are a couple of great books out (more expensive, but much more thorough) that you should look at too. Download a sample chapter to see if it reads well for you.

Have problems understanding some of it, but that is because I am still trying to use my old 8-inch by 10-inch view camera that I learned photography on. A lot of things to learn, but it is broken down where you can go through sections and understand it.

the d7200 was my first serious camera. This book showed me what every button and dial does with about a weeks worth of light reading. this is a far better teaching tool than the camera's manual.

I won't attempt a review of the content of this book. Leibniz's importance is of course well-established. (And I'm too much of a novice.)

Instead I'll try to be helpful by giving some product details that are currently missing from Amazon's page here, and apparently hard to find elsewhere online.
